Quality of CJK font's rendering on Windows was improved by new "gdiplus.dll" using freetype library.
Microsoft's cleartype is a good anti-alias technology for alphabet, you know.
But a lot of CJK font users think that it's a not good technology because a CJK character, especially Kanji, has a lot of lines and curves.
If you apply cleartype for CJK fonts, cleartype will thin out the lines from complicated characters, and it adds very dirty shadow.
This new gdiplus.dll makes CJK fonts beautiful and improve readability by grace of Freetype technology because it gives excellent shadow and keeps good thickness.
New gdiplus.dll named "gdi++.dll" aims to take the place of gdiplus.dll, but it's not stable now.
You can use it for only the application you want to use.
Or, you can replace original gdiplus.dll, but it's very dangerous. I don't recommend it, of course.
If you use gdi++.dll with freetype, you should put freetype.dll on same folder(WinXP) or system32 folder(Win2k).
